Best Bottle Drying Rack

After bottle feeding a set of twins, I know better than most people who important it is to have good quality bottle feeding accessories. Without a proper baby bottle drying rack, you get bottles that topple over and pieces that don’t dry properly. Plus you want to avoid contamination, like you might get with a typical dish rack that you use every day.

As a minimalist, I often avoid buying unnecessary accessories but this is one area I definitely think it’s worth buying that extra accessory. Especially in those tired days of parenthood when chances are the bottle drying rack (filled with bottles) will become a staple on the kitchen counter until you have the energy to put them away. (Usually somewhere around month 3 – 12 depending on your kid, if you’re wondering.)

What does a baby bottle drying rack do?

Like any kind of dish drying rack, baby bottle drying racks are designed to sit on your countertop and air dry your bottles without having any points where the water can sit. They’re also usually antibacterial, further preventing bacterial growth on your baby’s feeding supplies. Something that’s especially important with younger babies who can’t fight off germs the same way an adult can.

They’re also great to have if you sanitize your baby bottles because nothing will come in contact with the bottle besides the dedicated drying rack, which should also be kept sanitized.

Also, unlike regular dishes, it’s very difficult to hand dry baby bottles so air drying is usually your own option.

How a baby bottle drying rack is different from a dish rack

Although they’re essential designed to do the same thing (support dishes as they air dry), a baby bottle drying rack is designed differently than a conventional dish rack. Usually a bottle drying rack will have long prongs that can fit inside the baby bottle and hold it in place. If the bottles topple over (like in a regular dish rack), water can get trapped inside and they won’t dry properly. They also support the bottle nipples and rings so they dry properly as well.

Most people find that their standard at home dish rack just doesn’t get the job done very effectively. Another thing to consider is how you use your existing dish rack; if it’s frequently in use, it makes sense to pick up a seperate rack just for baby bottles so your dishes and bottles can dry at the same time.

What is the best bottle drying rack?

All of these bottle racks are actually great contenders, depending on your personal needs. After much consideration, though, I definitely have a preference for the Boon bottle drying rack. I think the grassy design is cute, but what really sets it out is the size and versatility.

Although I might be slightly biased because I’ve had to wash a lot of bottles in the past, being able to fit everything on the drying rack is really important. What’s the point of having a bottle drying rack if half of your bottles and accessories end up on a tea towel?

It’s also vital that your baby bottles dry evenly and don’t topple over, which is another thing I like about the Boon drying rack. The way the grass forms around your bottles means that it accommodates several different sizes, perfect if you have a variety of things to wash or even glass baby bottles.

One thing I don’t like is that the water collects underneath with nowhere to go. One way to mitigate the growth of mould is by making sure this area gets washed between uses. It’s a shame that it’s not dishwasher safe, too.

Although this is my favourite over all bottle drying rack, the Munchkin Deluxe Drying Rack is a close second, or maybe a first if you use Dr. Brown’s bottles exclusively. It doesn’t have the versatility of the Boon model, but because of the unique design of Dr. Brown’s bottles and the challenges of drying the little pieces (especially the discs) the specialized drying rack could be a lifesaver.

Hopefully these baby bottle rack options will help you choose the best bottle drying rack option for your family. At least having the right tools can make this chore feel a little easier, right?
