Food processors have been around for quite some time now! They’re practically a staple as a home kitchen appliance, and most every home chef swears by them. If you haven’t taken the leap, (or inherited one) already, we’re going to help you find one worth the price tag! The tricky thing about food processors, and many other appliances for that matter, is that they can be notoriously difficult to clean.

Thankfully, there are some models out there that are easier to clean by leaps and bounds! We’ll cut through the how and why with our review of the easiest to clean food processors! Does your current kitchen food processor stand up to these? If you’re looking for your first, these also make a great place to start, especially if you want to do more home cooking.

What is the Easiest to Clean Food Processor?

It’s a matter of functionality and design. If the appliance is well designed, it can stand up to regular cleaning without too much of a fuss. Food processors are inherently very mechanical, they rely on an electric motor and shaft to turn a blade, which can then deliver you fresh cut veggies, fruit or whatever else it may be you’re cooking. So, what does that mean for you?

Going through the in’s and out’s of each one of these units from behind a computer screen really doesn’t do them, or you, much justice. We’ll examine the inner workings of each of these units to see how easily they disassemble, and clean.

And while we’re at it, we’ll go through what we feel makes it worthy of your countertop, pantry or cabinet space! The last thing you want to do is end up with a unit that can’t tackle the job at hand. Whether it’s for meal prep, or certain recipes you’ve just been dying to try, these food processors can stand up to the task at hand.

Why Should I Buy a Food Processor?

Simple, they’re a huge time saver! (Especially when you find one that’s easy to clean!) They can cut your food prep time by A LOT. That means less time chopping vegetables, and more time doing what you want! One of my favorite things to use it for is chopping vegetables for omelettes! They’re great for making ahead, and depending on how long you power it for, you’ll end up with the perfect sized pieces.

If you’re someone who likes making soups, currys or sauces you absolutely need a food processor in your life! Cut out all of the chopping, or process fresh vegetables for a more enjoyable dish that takes less time to prepare.

You can ditch the canned veggies too! Did you know more often than not those things are loaded with salty brine and sugary additives? Know what’s going into you and your family’s food so you can feel better about what you make. Besides, who likes making food out of a can anyways?

What Kind of Food Processor Should I Buy?

There are a few different models of food processors out there you should be aware of. First is the most common, the cylindrical chamber with a handle and spinning blade. For lack of a better word, that is. These food processors are often available to purchase, or shop for by how many cups of food they can process at once. If you’re using it for baking, (chopping nuts or other ingredients), or soups this is a vital factor in choosing one. Since they’re so versatile, these are the food processors we will be looking at in this review.

The next is a blender-style food processor. These often include taller chambers with a spinning blade, and handles mounted on top of the motor like a pedestal. These are especially practical for jobs that fall a bit closer on the liquid side. Both because they’re more practical for pouring, and adding liquid ingredients to. Because of the range of possible attachments that are available, they’ve become almost interchangeable with the traditional electric food processor.

Ultimately it depends on what you’re making! But there’s still room for preference, of course. Let’s explore the easiest to clean food processors.

This is one of the foremost brands of food processor out there right now! The Ninja food processor system is known for its power and durability. It’s one of the best top performing units available by far, and comes with some really sought-after attachments you’ll love to use! I personally recommend the Ninja blending/food processing system for its auxiliary attachments. It comes with two blender cups. These can each be fitted with a custom compatible lid with an inner blade that can make smoothies and shakes right in your cup! After it’s done, you can swap it for a drink lid for the ultimate eco-friendly to go meal in a cup.

Attachments and features aside, this food processing system is incredibly easy to clean! The Ninja food processor comes clean after the blending pitcher, or food processing bowl is removed and rinsed under the tap. The blade comes out easily, and you can even run some water through either one on the machine itself. After a quick scrub, they’re clean in just a couple of minutes!

Pros:

  • Lots of features
  • Easy to wash

Cons:

  • Large, takes up quite a bit of space
  • Higher than average price tag

This Cuisinart is a personal favorite, and one of the most ubiquitous models out there! It’s incredibly easy to use, and even easier to clean! It’s incredibly simple to disassemble, just by removing the top chamber and chute, you’ve only got 3 pieces to rinse and wash. One thing I love about this model is that the chamber and ingredients chute are completely transparent. In other words, you can see each and every last tomato seed, or bit of onion while you’re cleaning it. The base is also simplistically designed for a quick wipe down. This model has lots of power, and will definitely stand the test of time. On a personal note, my mother has had one for nearly 30 years!

Pros:

  • Powerful food processor
  • Durable
  • Easy to clean

Cons:

  • High price tag

This little hamilton beach food processor is the perfect model for light to medium duty kitchen prep tasks! It’s easy to use, simple to clean and comes in a very affordable price range! Consider adding one of these to your go-to appliance cupboard, you definitely won’t be disappointed with its capabilities. There is however, one lovely feature this has over the competition! While the blade is active and chopping or mixing away, there’s a handy rotating ‘scraper’. This attachment fits to the top of the food processor, and can manually be turned around the bowl from a small handle on the outside! This means you save even more time, not having to turn off the machine to scrape bits from the side so it can be processed evenly. Again, this food processor also boasts a very short, and simplified cleaning time. You’ll find that the chute is a bit higher on the lid with this one, meaning washing more sauce out of the narrow piece, otherwise it’s a breeze.

Pros:

  • Lightweight and efficient
  • Practical bonus feature

Cons:

  • Particles can get trapped in longer chute
